Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) Bursary

IMESA bursary scheme was first instituted in year 2000 with the aim of promoting and representing the interests of municipal engineers and companies within engineering and built environment in South Africa. IMESA bursary scheme provides fiancial assistance in a form of a bursary to students who want to further their studies in Civil Engineering field of study.

These are the two types of applicants the IMESA bursary is targeting:

Dependents of non-IMESA members – assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds who would not have been able to further their studies without assistance in a form of a bursary.

Dependents of IMESA members – this one is offered to students who are currently or intend to further their studies in any university in South Africa. The main member must have been a member for more than 3 years.

Who Can Apply for IMESA bursary?

You must make sure that you do meet the following bursary application requirements if you want to submit your application:

Dependents of non-IMESA members

You must be a South African

Have completed your Matric

Intend studying or be studying towards Civil engineering qualification in a form of a degree

Be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa

Be able to furnish details to prove that you are indeed in financial need

Dependents of IMESA members

You must be a South African

Have completed your Matric

Intend studying or be studying towards Civil engineering qualification in a form of a degree

Be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa

Be able to furnish details to prove that you are indeed in financial need

IMESA Bursary Application (Documentation)

Wen you return the IMESA bursary application form you must attach certified copies of the following documents. Make sure that you do not return your application with original copies.

  • ID document
  • Statement of your academic performance results
  • Affidavit of parents proof of income
  • Mid year exam results

All the above documents must be submitted as certified copies. Additional to the above, bursary applicants are required to submit the following

  • Recent medical certificate
  • Proof of enrolment at a tertiary institute, for a suitable qualification
  • Fee statement from your tertiary institution
